About Me

I'm a PhD student (2017/09 - present) in the University of Toronto Department of Statistical Sciences working with professors Jeffrey Rosenthal and Daniel Roy on computational statistics and machine learning.

Before starting my PhD, I earned a bachelors degree in mathematics from the University of Waterloo (2009/09 - 2014/10), I worked on the credit risk modelling team at TD Bank Group (2015/01 - 2016/08), and I completed my MSc in statistics at the University of Toronto (2016/09 - 2017/06). I was also a sessional instructor for two undergrad stats courses between ending my master's and starting my PhD (2017/07 - 2017/08).

Since 2012, I have been dating Snow Murdock (we met at UWaterloo).

Along with being a PhD student, I'm doing a bunch of other stuff that keeps me very busy. Some of the more important items are:

  • I am the president of the Statistics Graduate Student Union (2017/09 - present)
  • I am helping redesign some second year undergrad statistics courses with Nathan Taback and Alison Gibbs (2017/09 - present)
  • I am mentoring 6 undergrad statistics students while they act as statistical consultants for students in other departments (2017/09 - present)
